Taste of Latin American Chicago - Jean Ward - Chicago Lake Condos

Entertainment at Taste of Latin American in Chicago

We all know that Lollapalooza is here, but what if you want to do something different, but stay in the city? Dodge Grant Park and visit Chicago neighborhood festivals on this glorious weekend:

Wrigleyville Summer Festival

You know the routine: food, drink, and music. The kids’ zone features a slide, face-painting, mini-golf and more, and local cover bands like Hairbanger Ball and Too White Crew will be playing, as well as The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus at 3300 N Seminary Ave.  Suggested donation at entrance.

Latin American festival

Taste of Latin America: Food, Wine, & Art Festival is a neighborhood festival with cooking demonstrations, food, world music, beer & wine tents, a kids’ area, and arts & crafts. This free festival located at 3600 to 3828 W Armitage, from Central Park Ave to Avers St., features the famous Cemitas Puebla, which will be serving chalupas and milanesa.

Edgewater festival

Edge Fest is known for its bacon theme, but it also serves art, local bands like 16 Candles and family-friendly fun at 5900 N Broadway from Thorndale to Ardmore.  Suggested donation at entrance.

Fiesta del Sol

Head to the heart of Pilsen at 1400 W. Cermak for live entertainment, local art, a variety of food, carnival rides, a children’s area, soccer games and much more.  Admission is free.

Old Irving Beer & BBQ Challenge

TODAY from 2-5pm, vote for your favorite BBQ pork and beer pairing by 10 teams of chefs & local brewers at 3644 N. Kedvale.  Tickets are available online at  for $60 and all proceeds benefit St. Viator Parish and School. Admission includes tickets redeemable for BBQ samples from all ten teams, beer pairings for each, additional beer offering, and commemorative glass.

Lakeshore Arts Festival

While it’s technically located outside Chicago city limits, we city dwellers still feel comfortable hoofing it to Evanston, where their annual Arts Festival showcases 120 artists, live jazz and classical music, a silent art auction, a children’s craft tent, and food vendor.  Admission is free at Centennial Park at Sheridan Road and Clark Street and free parking and shuttle service is available just north of the park.
